sorry, didn't finish that entry.....

as a regular biker myself, I would be interested in this map, I'd try and memorize it at home and then take it in my pocket just in case.

The issue of the pollution should be something to take into account when riding around by bike. Its just as bad as second hand smoking, both for the lungs and for the skin..

But I understand when you say at the bottom that it needs a fun turn-around, other than pamphlets. Its a difficult one... I'll get back to you if i have any ideas :)

hehe cheers carla, i agree there's nothing worse than getting a lung full of car exhaust, but i'm not sure if this project would benefit from it. maybe it could highlight which areas are more or less polluted - in the summer and during the week it might be worse, and could be updated according to the weather forecast?

Chris...got Guardian Educational supplement today, saved for you in my office...all about encouraging kids and teens to use bikes more.
Suggested routes, activities, incentives etc...could be useful.

Just occurred to me that an issue some London cyclists face is how to store their bike... many don't have the space. I've seen some quite lucrative contraptions including a rack screwed in to a wall meaning the bikes were held vertically! It is definitely an issue for me, the only reason I don't cycle is because my ride would get jacked if I kept it in the street.

Just a random musing... ways for people to get around this problem might make up part of your campaign. I for one would find it useful.

geoff - cheers will pick it up soon
aleister - i agree it is definately an issue, i hate leaving my bike anywhere other than the safest place possible (pref indoors). only thing is that there is a lot already out there and getting into inventing and product design might be going too far away from the project ?
thanks for you comments!

You're absolutely right... don't go inventing contraptions. A good handful of people in the group are currently collating information from elsewhere and using graphics to make it accessible as part of their project, so if there are indeed a lot of options already out there you could consider that approach.

Hey Chris,

Just wondered if you knew about the Friday Night Skate in London?

http://www.thefns.com/

Thought it could help with your project. I know that they used to invite people to participate on bikes as well as skates. It has definately been running for a while as it has passed my house on two occasions a few years ago... just a long train of crazy people that looks like it will never end!! Thought maybe going along one week might help you!

Anyway, good luck!

Sam.

hmm there are lots of things like storage initiatives & places to park bikes more safely - ali you're right it'd be silly not to include them somehow.

sam, friday night skate is bang on the kind of thing i'm wanting to do. basically some twisting needed and should have a project. we'll see
